Ours was a 2-day tour to a Tribal area located in Hualien, the eastern side of Taiwan called Kaluluan. Kaluluan is an area inhabited by several Taiwanese indigenous groups for centuries ago. The phrase &#8220;Kaluluan&#8221; is believed to be an onomatopoeia of the sound made when the pebbles are rolled and rubbed against one another by the waves.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>The Kaluluan coast, where the &#8220;kaluluan&#8221; happens<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/commtechasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-78.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>After a brief introduction, the team has already participated in their first activity &#8211; Cutlery Crafting!<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>The team made their own cutlery from scratch out of bamboo logs. A scene of the division of labor came organically among the team: Sawing, Cutting, Shaping, Rinsing; and finally, they managed to enjoy the food prepared by the beloved Inas (meaning mothers, or any senior female member in the tribe) using our creation.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/commtechasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-77.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>Up next was a very exciting Water Tracing &#8211; It required lots of teamwork as a lot of hand reaching and giving along the way for the team &#8211; making the way to where the jade-colored water is<br \/><br \/><br \/>After a challenging activity, a nice cigar will be great (isn&#8217;t it?) Tobacco smoking is an essential part of tribal life routine that goes way back and has a significant reflection on social activities&#8217; development throughout history. Continuing the spirit of teamwork, they have succeeded in making tobacco pipes and cigars out of bamboo branches and leaves using the simplest tools: knives and fingers.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/commtechasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/image-76.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n<p>These 2 days were sure a sweet escape from the city lives&#8217;\u00a0haste and have mounted our team spirit to another level.
