Joshua Gani, a Graduate Engineer from our Indonesia office , began his journey after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Indonesia in 2024. With a background in Formula Student competitions and leadership roles, he quickly transitioned into mission-critical data center projects through Commtech Asia’s Graduate Engineer Program. His experience has been defined by learning to perform under pressure, gaining exposure to diverse systems and cultures, and building a strong foundation for his engineering career.
1.Could you provide some details about your background?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Indonesia in 2024 and joined Commtech Asia in July 2024 through the Graduate Engineer Program. During my university years, I was actively involved in Formula Student competitions and held several leadership roles in student organizations. These experiences strengthened my teamwork, problem-solving, and ability to perform under pressure. I have always been curious about how large-scale electrical systems support critical infrastructure, which led me to pursue a career in data center commissioning. Joining Commtech Asia has allowed me to turn that curiosity into practical, hands-on experience in mission-critical projects.

2.How do you feel upon the completion of the Graduate program ?
I feel grateful upon completing the Graduate Program. In a relatively short period of time, it has provided me with broad exposure not only to electrical systems, but also to mechanical, fire protection, and control systems within mission-critical environments. Beyond technical knowledge, the program has also exposed me to diverse working cultures through the wide range of projects and clients handled by Commtech Asia. This experience has been invaluable in shaping both my technical capabilities and professional growth.

3.What is the most significant challenge encountered during this journey.
The most significant challenge during this journey has been learning to perform under high-pressure project environments. Being involved in mission-critical projects early in my career meant working alongside experienced professionals with many years in the industry. Maintaining quality and compliance with project standards in such environments required confidence, attention to detail, and clear communication. These experiences strengthened my ability to stay composed under pressure while upholding the standards expected in critical infrastructure projects.

4.Share one of your memorable projects?
One of my most memorable projects was being part of a large-scale global data center commissioning project early in my career. It was a significant milestone both technically and professionally. What made it especially meaningful was the project team I worked with. Throughout the various challenges and dynamic site conditions, I had the opportunity to observe how experienced project leads navigated complex situations, managed stakeholders, and upheld quality standards under pressure.
A particular moment that stood out was during the Cx5 phase, when the team was working intensely toward project completion. Despite the demanding schedule, one of my project leads took the time to walk me through the technical details of the systems we were testing. That experience reinforced the importance of mentorship and continuous learning, even in high-pressure environments.
5.How do you think Commtech Asia has assisted you through the journey so far?
Commtech Asia has provided me with valuable exposure to international projects and global clients early in my career. Being trusted with real responsibilities in mission-critical environments has accelerated both my technical growth and professional confidence. The high standards expected across projects have continually challenged me to improve and perform at a higher level. In addition, the structured training and learning platforms provided by the company have supported my continuous development.

6. What tips would you offer for those who are considering to apply for the GE program with us ?
I would encourage anyone who is interested to go for it. The Graduate Engineer Program at Commtech Asia offers hands-on exposure to real construction and mission-critical data center projects from an early stage. Be proactive, stay curious, and be ready to step outside your comfort zone. The experience you gain from working on mission-critical projects alongside experienced professionals will build a strong foundation for your engineering career.
