The Senior Commissioning Manager is responsible for leading commissioning delivery on major projects, ensuring systems are designed, installed, tested, and handed over in accordance with CTA and client expectations.
This role combines technical leadership, project execution, and team management, with strong involvement from design review through to Cx4/Cx5 and Integrated Systems Testing (IST/CTA). The role is primarily site-based and involves close collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Commissioning Leadership & Delivery
- Act as the Lead Commissioning Engineer representing CTA on assigned projects
- Lead and manage commissioning activities from design stage through to testing and handover
- Ensure delivery aligns with CTA standards, client expectations, and project milestones
- Support progression of projects ensuring timelines, procedures, and deliverables are met
- Technical Oversight & Design Review
- Conduct commissioning appraisal of:
- Design drawings and specifications
- Shop drawings and technical submissions
- Review contractor method statements and testing procedures
- Identify technical risks, design gaps, and coordination issues early
- Provide technical advice and solutions to project teams
- Commissioning Execution (Cx / IST / CTA)
- Lead and support commissioning activities including Cx0–Cx5
- Review and contribute to Cx4/Cx5 scripts and test procedures
- Participate in and support Integrated Systems Testing (IST / CTA)
- Witness testing and verify system performance against design intent
- Ensure commissioning documentation is complete and compliant
- Site Management & Quality Assurance
- Plan and coordinate commissioning schedules and activities
- Undertake regular site inspections to ensure system readiness
- Identify issues proactively and drive timely resolution
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, standards, and industry codes
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage a team of Commissioning Managers and Engineers
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and onsite training
- Support development of team capability and technical standards
- Allocate resources effectively across project requirements
- Stakeholder Management
- Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors
- Lead technical discussions and resolve commissioning-related issues
- Ensure clear communication and coordination across all stakeholders
- Reporting & Commercial Awareness
- Prepare and manage:
- Technical reports
- Commissioning documentation
- Progress updates
- Monitor project performance including programme, resources, and costs
- Review project staff timesheets and expenses to maintain budget control
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in MEP / commissioning roles
- At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial position
- Strong understanding of:
- Testing & commissioning processes
- Building services and MEP systems
- Experience in data center or mission-critical projects preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Experience reviewing:
- Design and shop drawings
- Method statements and technical documentation
- Familiarity with industry tools (MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.)
